Special editions have something that makes them objects of desire for many motoring enthusiasts. When those editions are created by companies that customise each model, they are even more spectacular, because although they belong to the same series, they have elements that make them unique. In 2020, Classic Restoration launched a very special version of the Shelby GT500CR that surprised everyone. To kick off 2024, the same company has announced and unveiled a new special edition of the model, the Shelby GT500CR Centennial Edition.

In this case, only 10 units of this variant will reach the market, each costing 625,000 dollars. And that money will not only cover the vehicle and its transformation: from the price of each unit sold, 100,000 dollars will go to the American Heart Association, to fund the Life is Why campaign.

Carbon fibre panels

The exterior is made up of several carbon fibre panels, which give it an unbeatable look. These panels are made by SpeedKore and let it show off an unbeatable appearance. To make it look even better, Classic Restoration has added a red stripe, in the style of competition cars, to highlight its sporty character. In addition, this addition brings the charitable intentions of the vehicle closer, as it represents the heart.

Several changes have also been fitted inside, reinforcing the striking essence of this variant. The Caroll Shelby Scat Rally Series 1000 seats are installed at the front, upholstered in black leather with red stitching. The steering wheel is wood, while the pedals recover the Shelby spirit, and a plaque from the American Heart Association is present to acknowledge the collaboration with the institution.

Engine and mechanics

Under the bonnet we find a Coyote V8 engine, with a Magnuson VMP supercharger. This unit delivers a considerable 800 CV of power, so it provides an impressive driving experience. Drive is sent to the rear axle through a Tremec T56 transmission. This allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, and it reaches a top speed of 304 km/h.

Other features of this version of the Shelby GT500CR Centennial include Wilwood brakes with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear wheels. It also has coil-over dampers for the suspension, which improves its overall handling.
