FIAT unveils the prototypes that will define the arrival of its upcoming models
FIAT presents its roadmap for the coming years, unveiling four prototypes that preview the arrival of new models built on a global platform

Every so often, car brands show us their vision of the future and the plans they have in the works for new and upcoming models, as is the case here with FIAT. The Italian brand is on the verge of launching new models built on a common base and covering different segments in order to reach more customers, which it previews with prototypes.
The common base for all these future models will be a single global platform, meaning all of these new models could be manufactured anywhere in the world and reach even more people, which means FIAT will become an even more global brand. Great news is that this new platform can be equipped with every type of powertrain, that is, from electric vehicles to hybrids, not forgetting combustion engines, which is welcome.

All these vehicles will have their own distinct and unique personality, and FIAT will place special emphasis on making them even more sustainable and affordable by applying the “less is more” approach. To achieve this, they propose eliminating redundant parts, resulting in more minimalist designs, and also reducing materials considered polluting such as chrome, alloys, leather and seat foams. In addition, many of the parts will be shared, up to 80% depending on the model, thereby cutting costs and therefore the final price of the product.
And keep your eyes peeled, because we won’t have to wait long to meet the first member of this new FIAT model family, as the brand itself has confirmed that it will be presented in July of this same year, to be followed by a new model each year for the next three years. So what are these prototypes that anticipate FIAT’s immediate future? Well, pay attention, here they come:
City Car

The FIAT City Car, like the rest of the prototypes, takes the current Panda as its reference, but it has been sent to the gym to grow in size and become a Mega-Panda, as the brand itself defines it, or, to put it in terms we can all understand, an SUV. Its design is inspired by the famous Lingotto building of the brand, and some of its features help define the new design language: structural lightness, space optimization and luminosity. Meanwhile, inside, the oval test track that this building housed inspires some interior elements, such as the seats or the dashboard.
As mentioned earlier, FIAT has used sustainable materials in the City Car, such as recycled plastics and bamboo fabrics, while, if equipped with an electric propulsion system, its charging cable will retract automatically, making daily life easier.
Pick-Up

FIAT is the market leader in South America, and the Strada pick-up is largely responsible for this, being the best-selling model in Brazil. A vehicle of this kind could therefore not be missing from the brand’s future lineup, though it will likely reach other markets, including Europe. To this end, FIAT proposes a functional pick-up geared toward leisure and free time, also blending the pick-up concept with the functionality of an LCV and the comfort of an SUV, all in a size that can be driven in any urban environment.
Fastback

The FIAT Fastback was a success for the brand in Brazil, just as the Tipo was in the Middle East and Africa, so the Fastback prototype brings both worlds together to continue that success and extend it to Europe as well. The Fastback, under an SUV concept, presents itself as the sportiest option in terms of design, and according to the brand this will be reflected in its performance, all while keeping in mind its commitment to sustainability, which implies that this model could be at least a hybrid.
SUV

If the Fastback is presented as the sportier prototype, the SUV prototype is its antithesis, with a more elegant design in which accessible, innovative and sustainable mobility are its guiding principles. Its lines are closer to a classic SUV, and the brand presents it as a Giga-Panda, aimed at families who want to travel in a comfortable, spacious and cozy way.
Camper

Vehicles focused on and oriented toward adventure are very trendy nowadays, and while the Pick-Up prototype was presented as a leisure vehicle, the Camper prototype goes a step further as an adventure vehicle, paying homage to the Panda of the 80s, which was conceived as a vehicle for both everyday city driving and as a perfect companion for adventure. In this way, the future model will possibly also become the most customizable to adapt to our way of life.
