Toyota is also preparing for SEMA: these are its proposals

The upcoming SEMA will feature many custom prototypes built by many specialist workshops, such as these two Toyota models, designed for leisure.

SEMA is approaching and brands are preparing their proposals for this event. One of the participants will be Toyota, and the Japanese brand is going to prepare two novelties that set it apart from its competitors. These two vehicles offer more opportunities to enjoy free time and leisure, with equipment designed for that purpose.

The first of these two models is the Land Cruiser ROX Concept, a wilder version of the SUV, reinvented with a large number of custom parts. The second model is the 4Runner TRD Surf Concept, a vehicle with a retro air, two doors and a look that takes us back to the 1980s.

Land Cruiser ROX

The Land Cruiser ROX was designed by the team at the Calty Design Research studio. They worked on a design that sets the outdoor leisure style on the new-generation SUV. To do so, they removed the C-pillar, redesigned the D-pillar and eliminated the roof, so there is no canopy over the occupants. A rigid frame allows the structure to be reinforced and kept resistant.

The doors have no glass in the windows, and the wheel arches are large and give a more attractive look. The huge wheels, with off-road tyres, also deliver that striking image.

Toyota 4Runner 2025

This prototype was designed by Motorsports Garage. To create it, they drew inspiration from the two-door body of the Hilux Surf that was sold in Japan in the 1980s. For this reason, it is conceived as a model designed for the beach. The model does without the D-pillar and turns the structure into a removable one. It offers a driving experience like that of the original, but with a modern touch.

The roof rack is built to carry surfboards and keeps that original spirit. By eliminating access to the rear seats through the door, the front seats have to adapt to the configuration and be able to fold forward to give access to the rear area.

This model will feature extensions for the wheel arches and a roll bar. Aesthetically, there are vinyl decals with the inscription Turbo and a topographic map printed on the bonnet.
