As you can see, Toyota continues to plunge its reputation to unimaginable lows. Perhaps, having once held power and savored all its good and bad sides, it now wants to start over and prove again its ability as a manufacturer of high-end vehicles and recognized reliability.

Something like this must be going through the minds of executives at the Japanese automaker, since just a few days ago they were celebrating the launch of the new Toyota iQ 2011 , and today they have just recalled more than 136,000 vehicles, of which 2,289 were sold in Spain

The problem, apparently, has been detected in the steering: when driving over a rumble strip, its sensors could malfunction, causing the control unit to interpret these signals and stiffen the steering feel, thereby forcing the driver to apply more force to the steering wheel.

According to Toyota, this fault is a one-off and has only been observed in Japan, where the Passo, the technical twin of the Daihatsu Boon, is also affected. In Europe, the vehicles called in for inspection are the iQs manufactured between 11 September 2008 and 22 October of this same year.
