In a few days, the Birmingham Commercial Vehicle Show 2016 will open its doors, an event where manufacturers will show us their proposals in the field of commercial vehicles, both light and heavy. We will focus on the former and, among them, on the Toyota Proace Van, the Japanese manufacturer’s new proposal to establish itself in this segment.

The range that Toyota will present aims to cover all the needs of users of this type of vehicle, so it will offer two trim levels, three body types and two wheelbases. The smallest model in the range is the Toyota Proace Van Compact, which has a length of 4.6 metres and a wheelbase of 2.9 metres. At the front it has three seats, while at the rear it has a load compartment 2.1 metres long by 1.6 metres wide, which amounts to a load capacity of 4.6 cubic metres.

This model can also become a passenger transport vehicle, with capacity for up to nine people. The medium version increases the length to 4.9 metres and has a wheelbase of 3.2 metres. Its load capacity is 5.8 cubic metres. Finally, the longest version has a length of 5.3 metres but keeps the previous wheelbase. Its capacity is 6.1 cubic metres. All three versions have the Smart Cargo system, which increases their load capacity.

The side sliding doors allow better access to the load area. The medium and long versions can even carry a Euro pallet, thanks to sufficient width, and can also be opened with an electronic opening and closing system.

Trim levels to meet any requirement

As for trim levels, the Base and the Comfort are designed for the van version, while the Combi has been designed for passenger transport. All three versions feature the brand’s safety equipment, included in the Toyota Safety Sense, which will help drivers have a safer and more efficient journey.

The new Toyota Proace Van comes with engines ranging from 1.6 to 2.0 litres and outputs from 95 to 180 CV. These new models will be on the market from January 2017, so it is already worth thinking about renewing your van with some very good options.
