Traveling the world in the Ford Explorer Electric: this is the challenge faced by Lexie Alford

You may not be too familiar with the name Lexie Alford. But she is an influencer who has become the youngest person to visit every country in the world. A rather significant feat that could be seen through her account (@LexieLimitless). This has earned her the chance to take on a unique journey. And the influencer is going to travel the entire world aboard a Ford Explorer Electric.

The adventure will be called Charge Around The Globe, starting in Nice and taking Lexie across the world behind the wheel of the Ford Explorer Electric. The intention of Ford and Lexie is to travel across the six continents and visit at least 30 countries. With this, they want to demonstrate that this journey can be completed with this electric vehicle. And if she succeeds, she will be the first person to circle the globe in an electric vehicle.

The reference point for this challenge

The reference point used to design this challenge has been Aloha Wanderwell, the first woman to drive around the world in a petrol-engined car, on a journey that began in 1922 and ended in 1927. This challenge was completed aboard a 1918 Ford Model T, so it is about putting Ford’s capabilities to the test for the challenges that may arise on this adventure.

Aloha Wanderwell had to overcome many problems, and her Ford Model T had to be towed by oxen at certain points, due to mud and water on the road or simply due to running out of fuel in remote corners far from the common routes of that era.

In fact, Le Hotel Royal in Nice will be the starting point of the adventure, just as it was for Aloha Wanderwell. In Lexie’s case, the Ford Explorer Electric she will use is a pre-production vehicle that has nearly all the features the version of the model arriving in Europe will offer.

That said, the vehicle has not received any extra modifications for this adventure and is shown exactly as it will be on the market. The adventurer has prepared thoroughly and is ready to overcome the challenge with an electric vehicle. The adventure can be followed on her Instagram account, and it has been confirmed that, although a route has been planned, Lexie has the freedom to change the route whenever she considers it necessary.
