The Volkswagen ID.4 EV receives an update with more power and range
Volkswagen’s fully electric compact SUV, the ID.4, receives significant improvements for 2024, with better range, power and technology

Volkswagen of America has today unveiled the updates that bring notable improvements to one of the brand’s flagship models, the ID.4 2024, its compact electric SUV. This model, which will continue to be assembled at the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, will receive a significant update, especially in its 82 kWh battery variants. The update includes a new high-performance drive unit, a state-of-the-art infotainment screen and improvements in comfort and performance.
More Power and Range
One of the main highlights of the ID.4 2024 is the introduction of a high-performance drive unit that promises to revolutionise the driving experience. The rear-wheel-drive models now offer an impressive power output of 282 CV, while the all-wheel-drive models deliver around 330 CV. In these models, fast-charging power has also been increased from 135 kW to 175 kW. This power increase not only promises more exhilarating acceleration, but is also expected to improve range. Precise range details will be announced closer to the vehicle’s launch.

Cutting-Edge Technology
Volkswagen has prioritised cutting-edge technology to enhance the driver experience. The 82 kWh ID.4 models will feature an enhanced 12.9-inch infotainment screen, which includes backlit sliding controls. In addition, the climate control interface has been redesigned to be more intuitive, and the infotainment menu has been revised for easier use. Interior design improvements have also been made, including a new gear selector position and a revised steering wheel design.

Comfort and Luxury
The ID.4 2024 focuses on comfort and convenience. The S models with the 82 kWh battery offer ventilated seats in the front row, ensuring a more pleasant driving experience in hot climates. Furthermore, the S Plus models are equipped with a harman/kardon™ premium audio system featuring nine speakers, a subwoofer and a 16-channel amplifier, delivering exceptional sound quality for music lovers on the move.
Aesthetic Improvements
As for the exterior, the ID.4 2024 features notable visual upgrades. The Standard AWD ID.4 models now come with 20-inch aluminium alloy wheels, which improve not only the look but also the performance. For those seeking an extra touch of style, the S Plus vehicles feature 21-inch machined alloy wheels that stand out even more on the road.

Price and Tax Credit
Although the exact price of the ID.4 2024 will be announced closer to its sales date early next year, Volkswagen remains committed to the accessibility of electric vehicles. The ID.4 2023 models are eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500, making them even more attractive to those looking for an eco-friendly and economical option. Volkswagen is currently the only foreign car manufacturer eligible for the full federal tax credit, thanks to its commitment to local assembly and sourcing.
The appealing range of ID.4 options on the Spanish market offers a wide choice for buyers. From the Pro version, starting at a competitive price of 51,955 euros, with 128 kW of power, a 77 kWh battery and an impressive range of 526 km under the WLTP standard, to the GTX variant, available for 60,720 euros, which impresses with its 220 kW of power, a 77 kWh battery and a range of 501 km under the same test standard
