Vauxhall launches a cheaper version of the Ampera in Great Britain

The Vauxhall Ampera Earth is a new version within the Opel Ampera range in Great Britain, with less equipment and a lower price.

Starting to strip equipment from a model just a few months after its launch can be read in two ways: either the aim is to win over more customers from other segments and other brands by offering a more affordable final price, or the Vauxhall Ampera has not been the success they promised and they urgently need a version that costs a bit less. Whatever the case, the arrival of this new variant called Earth has taken place in Great Britain, as a complement to the Positiv and Electron, the better-equipped versions.

The Vauxhall Ampera Earth will go on sale with a few omissions compared to the Positiv, the next model up in terms of equipment. The Earth loses the front and rear parking assistance cameras, the heated front seats and the leather trim for the rest of the interior, which are replaced by simpler black finishes.

The Earth version will still feature digital radio, the seven-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, cruise control and electronic air conditioning.

All Ampera models are eligible for the eco-vehicle incentive scheme run by the British government, which subsidises the equivalent of €6,300 in the case of the Ampera, leaving the Earth with a price of €38,000 at the current exchange rate, after the grant has been deducted.
