Vehicle sales rise 15.1% in November

For the third consecutive month, new vehicle sales in our country have risen, this time by 15.1% year-on-year. In total, new vehicle registrations in Spain reached 55,450 cars, and so far this year sales have risen 2.1%, to 662,188 units.
Among passenger cars, the Renault Mégane, with 21,714 units sold in our country in the January-November 2013 cumulative total, once again leads the Spanish market. At this point in the year, it is unlikely that any competitor will take away its position as the best-selling car in Spain for the tenth consecutive year.
We could say that we are finally coming out of the crisis that hit us for two years, at least as far as the automotive industry is concerned. The PIVE Plan, a public aid scheme for buying a new car while scrapping an old one, now in its fourth renewal, has a lot to do with this growth in sales. But Spain still has modest sales volumes and is far from where it should be.
Even so, it is estimated that around 700,000 units could be sold during 2013. Far below the best sales year for cars, 2007, with 1.7 million units registered.
