Video: a Nissan GT-R nearly goes up in flames at a car meet
A Nissan GT-R nearly gets burned at a sports car meet because of the flames coming out of its exhaust.
The Nissan GT-R is one of the most idolized and admired supercars on today’s scene. This is due to its good value for money, its effectiveness on the asphalt, and the fact that it inherits the legacy of one of the most beloved lineages among enthusiasts: the Skyline. With this premise, it is very easy to find a GT-R at a car meet showing off its performance and, of course, its flames after receiving the appropriate modifications. Although we already warn you that the latter is not always a good idea.
And today we came across a case that, although it did not end as badly as it could have, was not a pleasant experience for its owner. This is because the Nissan GT-R has an extremely tunable engine, which often encourages owners to carry out other numerous modifications, such as installing different maps that allow us to even emit flames from the exhaust pipe.
This is exactly what the owner of this GT-R did, deciding to show it off at a sports car meet in London. Anyone with a twin-turbo V6 producing more than 550 CV -or more, depending on the stage it runs- will want to make it roar and, while at it, release a flame or two for show. However, the ending was not as pretty as many imagined.

At first, everything seems to go smoothly and without any problem. The Nissan GT-R is in full form, and the crowd enjoys its captivating sound and the flames shooting out of the exhaust after releasing gas. Just when it seemed it was over, the driver of the Japanese supercar decided to go for a second round of revs.
It is true that the video does not capture the exact moment the fire starts, but everything suggests that, because the engine and exhaust had not been allowed to cool down, the flames reached the plastic part of the bumper. The fire then began to spread, forcing the owner and several bystanders to try to put it out, something that was not possible until a fire extinguisher appeared on the scene.

Fortunately, there are no injuries or serious damage to report, although we are sure this Nissan GT-R will have to make a long visit to the workshop. We need to be careful both with modifications and with how we use them, as they are not always beneficial.
