Video: Volkswagen Up! with City emergency braking

Volkswagen has released a fun and original video to present the new City automatic emergency braking function, on board the small Volkswagen Up! The video shows a series of situations in which distraction causes quite comical accidents, such as the quad bike rider who leaves the road or the skater who crashes into a wall.
Finally, we see a driver in the Up! who is also driving distracted but, in this case, is saved by the emergency braking. “It brakes by itself if you don’t”, is the caption that appears in German.
The City is a system that activates automatically at speeds between 5 and 30 km/h. It carries a laser sensor in the front area that reaches up to ten metres and, in the event of a possible collision, if there is no intervention by the driver, the braking system is activated. It is, therefore, a perfect system for heavy city traffic situations.
That said, the system is temporarily deactivated while you accelerate, brake and press the clutch, as well as when you press the corresponding key in the menu.
