VinFast begins deliveries of its flagship VF9 in the United States

The VF9 is a large SUV, ideal for large families. It offers room for 7 passengers with a comfortable and flexible seating layout, while its interior design combines luxury and practicality with high-quality materials and Premium comfort features.

Vietnamese carmaker VinFast has taken an important step in its international expansion strategy with the start of deliveries in the United States and Canada of its flagship, the VF9. The first units of this electric SUV were handed over to customers at an event held in Los Angeles.

The launch of the VF9 in the United States and Canada not only extends the Vietnamese manufacturer’s range in the North American market, but also underlines VinFast’s firm commitment to becoming a relevant player internationally.

In the United States, the VinFast VF9 is available in two versions to choose from: Eco and Plus. The first has a starting price of $69,800, while the second is available from $73,800. Both versions are therefore considerably more accessible than was initially expected, as the Vietnamese manufacturer had announced that the Eco version would start at 83 thousand dollars, against 91 thousand euros for the Plus version.

Coinciding with the start of VF9 deliveries in North America, Mike Nolte, Vice President of Sales at VinFast USA, has expressed his excitement about this important step forward for the company. Nolte recalled that the VF9 is the brand’s second electric SUV available in this market and one of the few models with this propulsion system that offers three rows of seats with capacity for seven passengers. For this reason, in his view, the brand’s flagship is the ideal vehicle for large families who want to enjoy a superior level of quality but have a limited budget.

Key technical specifications

The VF9 sits in the Vietnamese manufacturer’s range just above the VF8, competing directly in the North American market with other family electric SUVs such as the KIA EV9 or the Cadillac Vistiq. Measuring 5.12 metres long, 2.25 metres wide and 1.70 metres high, the VF9 is a spacious vehicle for the whole family. It features a 300 kW electric motor, paired with a 123 kWh battery pack, which allows it to cover between 580 and 594 km on a single charge, depending on the version, under the WLTP homologation cycle.

On the other hand, when recharging the battery pack, VinFast promises that it is possible to increase the state of charge from 10 to 70 percent in just 35 minutes, using an ultra-rapid DC charging point.

VinFast currently has 15 Stores spread across the country in the United States, and four Service Centers in California. The company also works with 36 dealers in 15 different states. Likewise, in Canada the brand has ten Showrooms and 57 certified workshops. Although for the time being all the vehicles it sells in the North American market are imported from Vietnam, the company maintains its intention to start local production at a new plant located in North Carolina, which should be operational towards the end of this decade.
