Volkswagen Concept e-Co-Motion at the Geneva Motor Show

The commercial vehicle segment has changed radically in recent years. Today we find that cargo vehicles have not only been modernized, but have also improved. They are now more efficient, more maneuverable, and offer the driver more accessories and even comfort-oriented finishes.
For these reasons, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will present the e-Co-Motion at the Geneva Motor Show, an urban delivery van with electric propulsion, no less than 800 kilos of payload capacity, good maneuverability and visibility, and excellent seat ergonomics with easy access, egress, and interior mobility. In addition, the e-Co-Motion has features that facilitate the loading process of the vehicle.
The e-Co-Motion offers a generous interior space despite having a length of just 4.55 metres (width: 1.90 m; height: 1.96 m). It provides a maximum cargo capacity of 4.6 m³ and a payload of 800 kg, thanks to a lower driving zone, which houses the electric motor, the battery, and the gearbox under the floor, and a taller structure dedicated to delivery tasks.
This mechanical arrangement offers ideal conditions for maximizing space use and makes it possible to design all kinds of configurable body versions. For example, it could be set up with a driver’s cab at the front of a loading platform, as in the prototype, or as a passenger shuttle, low-floor platform, or refrigerated trailer, depending on each customer’s needs.
