Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR Concept: more GTI than ever
The Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR Concept makes its debut at the Wörthersee flexing its muscles and previewing the production version due at the end of 2018.
As every year, Volkswagen is present at the Wörthersee, the great gathering of sports car enthusiasts from the Group’s brands held in Reinitz. And this year, it does so with a very special model: the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR Concept.

The TCR designation leaves no room for doubt: the Golf GTI TCR Concept is the road version of the racing Golf for the TCR championship. And the “Concept” tag is provisional: at Volkswagen they hope to bring it to market and sell the Golf GTI TCR at the end of 2018.

With the 2.0 TFSI engine tuned up to 290 CV, this would be the fastest and most powerful Golf GTI: a top speed of 264 km/h, without electronic limiter, is announced. The peak torque of the turbocharged engine reaches 370 Nm from just 1,600 rpm, and power reaches the wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox.

Everything you see in the images will be on the Golf GTI TCR when it goes on sale once it stops being a concept. This includes the 18-inch forged wheels in “Belvedere” design (19-inch ones will be available as an option), the high-performance brakes, the aesthetic modifications to the bodywork and the new interior trim. A “Performance” package with more dynamic chassis settings and DCC adjustable damping suspension will also be offered.
