Volkswagen Golf R 333 Limited Edition: the fastest Golf in history is unveiled
The long-awaited special edition of the Golf R finally sees the light of day, debuting as the most powerful and fastest Golf in history and limited to 333 units worldwide
Just over three weeks ago, Volkswagen gave us a first preview of a very special edition of its Golf R, which would also be limited to just 333 units, promising performance and behaviour never seen before in the history of the popular German compact.
The wait is finally over, and Volkswagen has unveiled this special edition that had caused such a stir among the great fans of the Wolfsburg brand, based on a Golf R Performance, which has been fitted with a series of new features, both aesthetic and performance-related, that make it a true object of desire.

Little discretion
Starting first with its aesthetic side, the Golf R 333 sports the eye-catching Lime Yellow Metallic paint that we first saw in the teasers, contrasted with numerous black elements such as its roof, the exterior mirror housings, the 19-inch Estoril alloy wheels and the decorative decals bearing the number 333 flanking the lower part of its side.
Another striking colour that catches the eye as soon as you look at Volkswagen’s compact sports car is the electric blue of the brake calipers with the white R logo, as well as the small R logos on the tailgate, front wings and front grille.

A very complete level of equipment
Inside, the Golf R 333 Limited Edition comes as standard with premium sports seats in Nappa leather with integrated headrests and an identification plate bearing the chassis number of the unit, a reminder of the exclusivity this edition can boast.
As it could not be otherwise, the safety and driver-assistance equipment of today’s protagonist is genuinely extensive, with highlights including the IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, as well as the Travel Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control systems with Stop & Go function. In addition, music lovers will also find a sound system signed by Harman Kardon with 9 speakers and 480 W of power.

Under the bonnet…
As for its mechanical and dynamic side, the Golf R 333 Limited Edition was developed by Volkswagen’s R division at the Nürburgring to deliver sublime performance in sporty driving. And as if that were not enough, Volkswagen has increased the output of its 2.0-litre TSI engine to 333 CV of power and 420 Nm of torque, making it the most powerful Golf in history.
Finally, anyone wishing to acquire one of the 300 units of this special edition will have to part with no less than 76,410 euros, which means that its exclusivity raises the price by some 15,000 euros more than a conventional Golf R.
