Volkswagen Golf R: now with 400 CV thanks to ABT
The Golf R has been through the hands of the German tuner, which has made slight modifications both aesthetically and mechanically, achieving 400 CV.

The company ABT already has many creations so far this year, such as the Skoda Octavia RS that went through its hands a few weeks ago. Now it is the turn of the most radical version of the compact from Volkswagen, the Golf R.
The Golf R is positioned as one of the most powerful and fastest hot hatchbacks on the market. Even so, ABT has had the courage to take it to the other extreme. The ABT Golf R arrives more radical than ever and with performance that places it head to head with more powerful vehicles, such as the A45 AMG.
The new modified compact receives an update to the ECU, which increases the power from the 310 CV found in the standard 2.0 TSI up to 400 CV. Torque has also been affected by this modification, and there is an improvement offering 500 Nm compared to the 400 Nm of the standard version. This ABT Golf R manages to overtake the R360S, a special edition that was intended exclusively for the Swiss market.

Thanks to the four-wheel drive system incorporated in the ABT Golf R, the increase in power and torque is delivered to the wheels without any problem. At the same time, the German company has included a new suspension system to ensure optimal cornering. This lowers the front by 20 mm and the rear by 25 mm. ABT offers an adaptive suspension system that allows you to reduce the car’s height by 40 mm at the front and 45 mm at the rear.
But ABT has also considered that the raw power has to be stopped, and for that reason it has modified the brakes. They have added a six-piston system to stop the 400 CV of power delivered by the ABT Golf R. On the other hand, the exhaust has also been modified in this intervention. To make the rumble of the 2.0 TSI much rougher and deeper, the ABT guys have installed a 102 mm silencer.
Certain changes have been made to the styling, but without being extravagant. The ABT team has fitted the Golf R with black exhaust outlets and wheels with a special design in different sizes: 18″, 19″ or 20″. The German company gives its customers great freedom and allows them to give the ABT Golf R a personal touch and create a unique unit.

No prices are known yet for this very special version of the Golf R, but with its 400 CV it becomes a direct rival of the Audi RS3, putting one of its closest relatives in a tight spot.
