Volkswagen PanAmericana, an ideal solution for transporting your motorcycle

If you are an motorcycle enthusiast, you have probably found yourself in situations where you need to take your bike somewhere, but it is more convenient to transport it in a van or a trailer. In these cases, most people opt for the latter, which is more practical and keeps the vehicle safer. That is, if you do not have a van adapted for this type of transport.

At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show we had the chance to see the Volkswagen PanAmericana, a version of the Transporter that is entirely focused on motorcycle transport. This van has been designed with two-wheel enthusiasts in mind and equipped to provide the best service. It not only keeps the motorcycle well secured and safe, but also makes loading and unloading very easy.

The Volkswagen PanAmericana is fitted with an electronically assisted ramp to make loading and unloading easier. Alongside this ramp, the van has several tie-down points that keep the motorcycle firmly secured and prevent it from moving the slightest bit. In the image gallery you can see how the Ducati featured in the test carried out during the presentation is secured, along with the platform that holds it in place.

This is a model designed specifically for this purpose, so the details are optimised to remind you of that. The PanAmericana comes in white, red and black, with grey accents. The alloy wheels are larger than those usually seen on this model, and the interior has an added aluminium floor, which is more suitable for transporting a motorcycle.

This van is based on the Multivan 4Motion, with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine producing 201 CV and a maximum torque of 450 Nm, paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
