The wide range of models presented by Volkswagen at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show makes it one of the most important protagonists of the Swiss event. Its presence is a sign of the good health of the German brand’s model line-up and the importance of its proposals in securing a strong presence at this major Motor Show.

One of the brand’s main models was the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack, a version designed to travel over terrain more demanding than asphalt roads, which brings together all the characteristics of the other versions of this type across the different models. Under the bonnet are three TSI petrol engines of 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 litres and three TDI 2.0-litre diesels, with outputs ranging from 150 to 240 CV.

These engines will be paired with a dual-clutch sequential gearbox, except for the 150 CV engine, which will be fitted with a six-speed manual. In addition, it will only be available with 4Motion all-wheel drive.

Plug-in hybrid models for the near future

The Passat is not the only one we see in the Swiss city, as it also presents the Volkswagen Passat GTE, a hybrid coupé that seeks to place one of its most popular models in the plug-in hybrid segment. This concept previews its look and mechanical features, achieving a purely electric range of 50 km. It has two electric motors which, together with the 3.0 TSI turbo engine, deliver a total of 380 CV and a reduced consumption of 2 litres/100 km.

Also on show is the Sport Coupé GTE concept, which shares with the previous one its place in the plug-in hybrid category. It features a front and a rear electric motor, completely independent, working alongside a V6 engine. In addition, its design aims to showcase a new design language associated with the brand, which we find very interesting.

The Volkswagen Touran has also drawn the attention of visitors. With the new generation of this compact MPV, its entire look has been renewed while keeping its style and personality. It can seat up to seven passengers and will offer engines ranging from 110 to 190 CV.

Many of the specifications of the Volkswagen Sharan have also been updated, including a new infotainment system and new engines that improve performance by 15% and comply with Euro 6 regulations. Finally, the commercial vehicle Volkswagen Caddy also deserves a mention, as it has benefited from a redesign that has modernised and updated it.
