Volkswagen presents the Touareg restyling

Volkswagen has published the official data and images of the restyling of the Touareg, one of the world premieres at the Beijing Motor Show. The update to the German SUV stands out for slight aesthetic changes combined with technological novelties to reduce fuel consumption, improve its handling, increase safety and equip it with more connectivity functions.
From the outside, the new Touareg is characterised by the two additional horizontal bars in the front grille, the new design of the front bumper, bi-xenon headlights as standard in every trim, the new rear diffuser and the chrome strips included in the optional “Chrom & Style” pack. The bodywork can be painted in five new shades, and two wheel styles of 18 and 20 inches have been added.

Inside the cabin there are new buttons on the controls above the centre console screen, more chrome finishes surrounding other controls, the white illumination of these controls replacing the red, and new colour combinations for the upholstery as well as more types of fine wood used to cover some decorative elements.
The engine range focuses its novelties on the new eight-speed automatic gearbox, fitted to all options, and on the V6 TDI engines, which receive an improved catalytic converter and particulate filter to meet EU6 emissions regulations. The 204 CV version now has an average consumption of 6.6 l/100 km (0.4 less than before) and emits 174 grams of CO2/km (10 less than before). The other engine has seen its power increased by 13 CV to 258, its average consumption has dropped to 6.8 l/100 km (-0.4) and emissions have also decreased to 178 g/km (-11).

The V6 TDI engines also come as standard with a new multi-collision braking system, which helps avoid secondary accidents, and, like the rest of the versions, the coasting mode, whereby the car moves forward with the engine decoupled from the transmission to reduce consumption when driving at speeds below 130 km/h.
The infotainment equipment will be expanded in autumn with the introduction of online functions accessible with the RNS 850 navigation system and the mobile phone pre-installation. The first applications to arrive will be points-of-interest location via Google, a map service with Google Earth, Google Street View and online information on traffic.
