Volkswagen Electric Cars Concepts Industry Salón de Detroit
Volkswagen would prepare an electric concept for Detroit
Volkswagen will present a new electric concept in Detroit, although the brand is still not willing to commit to producing a model like it.

Volkswagen is one of the leading brands that has made many promises regarding electric cars, although we still have nothing clear yet regarding a future production model. The Wolfsburg group keeps showing us electric concepts from time to time, and the next one in line would be presented at the Detroit show.
This time, it would be an electric Volkswagen Beetle or something similar, according to sources that only state it “anticipates the new electric model”. As always, Volkswagen has also been quick to clarify that this supposed concept will not enter production, which is already standard practice at Volkswagen.
That said, Volkswagen has not yet made use of the prestige of its name or its entire history with an electric model. If for now we only have the Nissan Leaf and the Mitsubishi iMiev as references, imagine an electric Volkswagen Beetle or an electric Golf (this one is in development) available now and not in two or three years.
Alongside this “surprise model” from Volkswagen in Detroit, the Jetta hybrid is also being presented, which integrates the 1.4 turbo engine into its powertrain. This Jetta will be a sort of competitor to the Toyota Prius, although for now it is far too early to talk about dethroning the Prius from its position as the number one hybrid.
