Volvo EX30: the electric SUV from the Swedish brand, small but mighty
The Swedish brand finally launches its small, fully electric SUV, which offers several battery options and the latest advanced safety systems.

Volvo, the Swedish brand renowned for its commitment to safety and innovation, has unveiled its latest offering, the Volvo EX30, a small, fully electric SUV. Designed to be as safe as one would expect from Volvo, the EX30 has the smallest CO2 footprint of any Volvo car to date. It becomes the brand’s new promise, priced from 36,000 euros, a very good price for the features it offers, and can be ordered from today across Europe.
This model was unveiled for the first time in Milan and will only be available in selected markets. It has been classified as the first small premium SUV built on the SEA Entry architecture of the Geely Group, designed for the smallest models. Volvo expands its growing range of fully electric vehicles to four models, although it will have to compete with other recently launched models classified as small SUVs, such as the new Lexus LBX or the BYD Atto 3, the Chinese brand’s promise.
The purpose of this model is to show its customers that the brand’s values can be reflected in a smaller format than the original, with a length of around 4.3 metres. The new EX30 will sit just below the XC40. With a clearly electric look, it features a confident front end, a closed grille and headlights inspired by Thor’s hammer. The EX30 is available in five exterior colours, including; cloud blue, moss yellow, gloss black, bright white and grey.

Multiple battery options
In terms of battery technology, Volvo gives customers the freedom to choose the option that best suits their needs, rather than being limited to a single battery. The EX30 is available with three powertrain options and two different battery types. From a single motor with an LFP battery for urban journeys, to a range-extended variant with an NMC battery that maximises range up to 480 km, and even a dual-motor variant for those seeking exceptional performance.
This dual-motor variant is called the Twin Motor Performance, which combines the NMC battery with an additional second electric motor, delivering 428 CV (315 kW) and 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 3.6 seconds, making it the quickest-accelerating Volvo to date. This variant has a charging capacity of up to 153 kW, while the standard version has a capacity of 134 kW, allowing a charge from 10 to 80% in just 25 minutes.

Volvo includes an app that lets you adjust the amperage, the maximum charge level, and the time at which you want charging to start for your Volvo.
First Volvo with Park Pilot Assist
Volvo has placed particular emphasis on the safety of the EX30. The vehicle features advanced safety characteristics, such as a special cyclist detection function that helps prevent accidents when opening doors in front of cyclists, motorcyclists, etc.
Another driver-assistance system found in the new Volvo model is the impressive automatic parking assist. Volvo’s Park Pilot Assist can handle all kinds of spaces, whether curved, parallel, etc. The assistant studies the gaps around the vehicle and, via a selection on the touchscreen, we can choose the spot we like best.

In its interior design, there is only one multimedia screen bringing together all the functions, including the experiences offered by technology partners such as Apple, Google or Qualcomm.
Despite its elegant and distinctive light shape, there is also the option to adjust the quality and intensity of the interior light, choosing from five themes of different ambient lighting. Another feature that sets this model’s interior apart from others is its seats, which include various brand details such as the Swedish flag and their distinctly shaped side silhouette.
Volvo has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the EX30, as it has reduced its total carbon footprint to less than 30 tonnes, the lowest of any Volvo car to date. With a focus on production and the life cycle, as well as the responsible use of materials, Volvo demonstrates its commitment to environmental sustainability.
