Volvo XC90 2014: new sketches
The Volvo XC90 still has a couple of years ahead of it, although Swedish engineers have already begun sketching the first designs, with a certain resemblance to the Volvo Concept You.

Volvo has released some sketches of the next XC90, a model destined for a swift redesign given the age of its platform and design, although it must be acknowledged that it has been one of the brand’s most successful models.
It’s no coincidence that the Volvo Concept You amazed us at the Frankfurt show, as it seems we weren’t the only ones. The Concept You has turned out to be a clear inspiration in drawing up these sketches, with a front almost copied from the concept.
The design exercise behind these sketches explores several angles, and one that suits this imaginary XC90 best is the rear end. The Concept You has no influence this time, although the designers are imagining several rear treatments with a very low roofline.
We’ll still have time to see changes made after these first drawings, and it will be interesting to see how the new modular platform that the XC90 will have access to develops.
