Volvo XC90 Armoured, comfortable journeys bulletproof
Customers of Volvo wanted a version of the XC90 that was armoured, and after two years of design and preparation, the Swedish brand presents this bulletproof version

For several years, customers of Volvo have been asking to travel in an armoured Volvo XC90, so after listening to VIPs who wanted to enjoy a security vehicle with all the style of Volvo, the brand has given in. The Volvo XC90 Armoured reaches the market after two years of work and has received armour capable of resisting bullets and even a moderate explosion. An armoured car that makes real what we used to say decades ago: “that Volvo is a tank”.
The Volvo XC90 Armoured features V-PMA VR8 ballistic protection, which offers 360º bullet and explosion resistance, so customers who wanted extra protection can enjoy calm, bulletproof journeys. The armoured model is based on the Volvo XC90 T6 AWD Inscription and, once it leaves the Swedish Torslanda plant, it is transferred to the TRASCO Bremen plant in Germany. This is the specialist coachbuilder in charge of adding the extra armour that turns the XC90 into an armoured vehicle.

The armour fitted to the Volvo XC90 Armoured is made of high-strength steel and is 10 mm thick, while the glass is 50 mm thick. The weight added by the armour is 1,400 kg, so the total weight of the vehicle, with five passengers, reaches 4,490 kg. To cope with the changes and the increase in weight, the Volvo XC90 Armoured features upgraded brakes and suspension.
