What are the favourite car brands of Spaniards on social media? A recent study analysed thousands of Instagram posts in order to find out which car brands Spaniards like best. In this way, we will learn which brands are the most popular in Spain, Europe and the rest of the world.

For the study, more than 300,000 car posts on Instagram were analysed that were geotagged and included mentions. The samples were narrowed down to 41 popular car brands from several European countries. To find out which car brand is a country’s favourite, we calculated which brand appeared the largest number of times in Instagram posts per 1,000 posts published in public mode.

Which car brand is the favourite of Spaniards?

The favourite traditional brand of Spaniards on Instagram is Seat, with 65.7 posts for every 1,000 found on Instagram, followed by Ford with 37.9 and Renault with 36.6. As for luxury brands, the favourite is Audi with 123.2 per 1,000 posts. Moreover, it is also the car brand of choice for Spaniards in general, regardless of whether it is luxury or traditional.

The study also reflected the interest of Spanish users in Porsche and BMW. Of all the countries analysed in the sample, Spain was ranked fourth as one of the countries most loyal to choosing domestic car brands. Of every 1,000 car posts made on Instagram in Spain, 105 were posts exclusively about national brands. Although this seems a low number, Spain is far behind other countries such as Sweden and even France.

The United States tops the list as the country most loyal to its brands, and car enthusiasts in Italy have the highest proportion of photos of local car brands posted on Instagram, at 41.8%.
