The new Peugeot 408 is unveiled uncovered, ready to land on the Chinese market
The China-oriented version of the new Peugeot 408 has just been revealed, featuring a completely redesigned look and a very advanced technology package

A little over a week ago, the lion brand released the first teaser Peugeot of its new Peugeot 408, a new model that will be built on the EMP2 platform we already know from the 308 and the Opel Astra, and which, according to the French brand, will become “a new species of the Peugeot family”, as it will blend typical SUV elements with a two-box body.
That said, the brand announced it would be presented on 22 June, although the version intended for the Chinese market has just been revealed, sporting a new look that borrows many features from the brand’s new design language, a saloon body and a state-of-the-art technology package.
A front inherited from the 308
Starting with design, the new Peugeot 408 measures 4.75 metres in length and has a 2,730 millimetre wheelbase. At the front, the new saloon features a large grille with the brand logo stamped in the centre, sharp light units and the vertically arranged claw-shaped daytime running lights that are already a genuine brand signature.

From the side, you’ll find 17-inch alloy wheels, a wedge-shaped body and several style creases on the upper part of the doors to emphasise its dynamic character.
Turning 90 degrees, we finally reach the rear, where the new LED tail lights stand out, joined by a black trim strip, a fairly clean bumper and a tailgate shaped into a sharp, spoiler-like edge.

Spacious and high-tech
Stepping inside, we find a very spacious cabin, largely thanks to its panoramic sunroof, which lets in plenty of light. Added to this are the iCockpit digital instrument cluster, a dashboard similar to that of the Peugeot 308 and an extensive list of technology systems, among which we highlight the 360-degree camera and cruise control with speed limiter.
As for the mechanical side, this new 408 features a four-cylinder 1.2-litre PureTech engine producing 130 CV and a 1.6 THP petrol unit producing 165 CV, both available with either a manual or an automatic gearbox.
