Which car brands have fitted engines from BMW?

The BMW engines have always been a coveted secret for many car manufacturers. Today we are going to reveal some of the brands that have been able to fit them. You are going to be surprised!

The engines of BMW have always been highly sought after by car manufacturers and although some drivers think that German models are no longer what they used to be, we are sure that what we are going to tell you today will surprise you greatly.

Although the market trend is moving towards smaller engines with lower emissions, it is true that the great engines of the Bavarian brand have marked a before and after in the history of the automotive industry. For that very reason, many car manufacturers have wanted to fit some of its most famous powerplants, such as the one in the BMW M3 E46, the S54B32, but there are many others that also deserve a full tribute.

Which car brands and models have fitted or do fit BMW engines?

You surely know the first one on the list: the new Toyota Supra. This iconic updated model uses the same engine and is built on the platform of the new BMW Z4. What does it lack to offer that typical German thrill? A manual gearbox. Right?

McLaren F1

For some, this model is the finest work of art the Woking brand has ever built. It is called the McLaren F1 and you can see it, virtually until the lockdown under the State of Alarm ends, in its museum. This famous supercar uses a V12 engine that has perhaps become one of the most famous of the Bavarian brand.

This powerplant, a V12 as we have mentioned, allows a top speed of 400 km/h. Just imagine what it feels like to drive it!

In the 90s, Rover also managed to get some of its models to use the admired German engines. Specifically, they fitted the MG ZT, the MG ZR and the MG ZS.

Rolls-Royce

As we all know, Rolls-Royce belongs to the same group of car manufacturers, which is why it has always been lucky enough to fit some of the most famous V12 blocks of the Bavarian company, and has even offered 6.75-litre engines. Quite the madness!

Wiesmann

The collaboration between BMW and Wiesmann has always borne very good fruit. Quite a few models have fitted BMW engines, such as the MF 30 which used the so-called M54 of the BMW 330Ci, the MF 3 which mounted the famous S54B32, the MF4 a turbo V8 and an MF 5, which could offer the impressive V10 from the BMW M5 E60. Seeing is believing!

Brabham

Brabham BT62

Perhaps this brand has very impressive models that are easily recognised by all enthusiasts of the automotive world. Specifically, the Brabham BT53. With this vehicle, driver Nelson Piquet won a race in 1973. The powerplant of this model is capable of delivering 1,500 CV.

Land Rover

Land Rover Defender Works V8

The collaboration between BMW and Land Rover is also well known to many, and both companies have even shared engines, platforms, and so on. The first shared model was the L322, which had a 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine, but the so-called M57; a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine was also used.

This is not the only model; as we have mentioned, there are several others such as the Land Rover Freelander, the Land Rover Defender or the Land Rover Discovery with an M3 engine. An absolute blast!
