Ford Mustang Mach-E Electric Cars SUV
Will the Ford Mustang Mach-E inherit the Shelby name?
The Ford Mustang Mach-E is the electric, SUV-shaped version of the iconic muscle car, and it could well succumb to the charms of Shelby.

The first electric Ford is generating a lot of talk, a reaction that is due not only to the interest it has sparked, but also to the controversy caused by its use of the Mustang name. The pony car par excellence marked a before and after in the automotive industry when it arrived in the sixties and, generation after generation, its essence has been passed on. Since the arrival of the Mustang Mach-E many muscle car enthusiasts have seen it as an outrage but, what if I told you this synergy need not be a bad thing?
For better or worse, this new offshoot of Ford carries the Mustang name, which influences many aspects. One of them is its exterior design, an area where several features of the conventional Mustang have been adapted to the shape of an SUV, giving rise to a muscular, sporty vehicle, just as the muscle car from the oval badge has always done.
The cabin departs from the harshness of the standard Mustang to offer a technological showcase worthy of the latest automotive trends. A colossal touchscreen dominates the dashboard, alongside a smaller one that acts as the instrument cluster, and together they practically eliminate the array of controls found inside the Mach-E.

But what about the mechanical side? Logically, the main difference between the two versions of the Mustang lies in the fact that one uses a titanic 5.0-litre V8 while the other gives in to electrification. Not surprisingly, this type of mobility is not incompatible with sportiness, as the 465 CV and 830 Nm of torque declared by the Mustang Mach-E GT already demonstrate.
However, Ford has shown on several occasions that its Mustang has hidden potential that always comes to light with Shelby. We can see this in the latest Shelby GT500, an absolute beast that makes the 450 CV of the Mustang GT look modest. But what we want to say is that, given this special relationship between the Ford Mustang and Shelby, it would not be far-fetched to think the Mach-E could also be modified.

With this premise, we could witness in the not-too-distant future the arrival of a Shelby Mustang Mach-E, in which power, performance and tuning would be taken to another level. For now we are only speculating about this model’s future, so it is risky to confirm that it will become reality, but we are sure it is an idea that is circulating in the minds of engineers at the American brand.
