Will the next Bugatti Veyron be a hybrid?

The Bugatti Veyron would have a hybrid successor, according to one of the Bugatti engineers, who has shared some details on the matter with the people at Auto Express.

While we wait for the Bugatti Galibier to appear (the wait has already been a long one), we learn from Auto Express that the Veyron’s successor could be a hybrid; among other details, lighter than the previous model and even faster, named Veyron as well, among other “surprises”.

The news comes from Jens Schulenburg, one of the Bugatti engineers, who also told the British publication that the brand has prepared some technologically striking solutions, such as wheels made of carbon fibre(sic).

The same engineer has finally acknowledged that hybrid technology will play a major role in the next generation of the Veyron, in a way that even the most optimistic had not suspected. That is, with the right configuration of engines and batteries, it could exceed 1,200 horsepower.

But what really keeps the Bugatti engineers awake at night is whether the hypothetical new hybrid Veyron will have a higher top speed than its predecessor. At Bugatti they feel they are on the right track, since using some combination of energy recovery or electric battery assistance, it is more than likely.
