Winnebago e-RV, the electric motorhome that turns travelling into a pleasure
The event taking place in Florida showcases several models for enjoying free time, among which this electric concept stands out.

Motorhomes are also being transformed so that combustion engines can be phased out within just a few years. At the Florida RV Supershow, an event dedicated to this type of vehicle, the Winnebago e-RV was presented, an electric motorhome that has impressed with its versatility. This is the Winnebago e-RV, the first concept model of electric motorhome built by a major specialist manufacturer.
This electric vehicle is based on a Ford Transit, which has been fitted with a drivetrain from Lightning eMotors. The model promises efficiency, comfort and functionality. However, this vehicle has a rather significant drawback, which we hope can be resolved so that it goes into production and becomes a truly practical vehicle.
A somewhat limited battery
The major drawback of this concept model is the battery capacity
. It is equipped with an
86 kWh battery pack
, which means it can cover journeys of up to 200 kilometres. For the manufacturers, this is sufficient capacity for most users of this type of recreational vehicle, who do not make daily journeys of more than 200 kilometres.

Nevertheless, this is only an exhibition vehicle, and improvements can be applied when it goes into production. The battery is one of the areas they will focus on in the near future to increase range as much as possible. The advantage of this battery is that it can be fully charged in 45 minutes. Home chargers or those at service stations or campsites can be used to have the battery ready to continue the journey.
The entire charging process and battery operation can be monitored via an app on a smartphone or tablet, to get maximum performance with all the information at hand.
Equipment for comfortable living
The model features equipment for living comfortably during those holidays on wheels. It has a fridge similar to those found on recreational boats, a sink, and a bathroom with toilet and shower. The kitchen is completed with a microwave, and fold-down tables allow life on board. The sofa converts into a double bed for resting at night.
This vehicle is
a first step for users who want electric mobility
in this type of leisure transport, which will have to keep moving towards this technology to keep pace with the rest of the industry.
