Impreza Subaru Sedans Curiosities
Would you like to own the Impreza WRC of Colin McRae?

If you are a rally lover, this Impreza WRC will remind you of the late Scottish driver Colin McRae. The unit you see in the images carries number 3 on its chassis and was used by McRae to compete in the Monte Carlo Rally in 1997. That same year, and a few months later, the Impreza WRC claimed the prized manufacturers’ title in the World Rally Championship.
This same car with chassis no. 3 was used a year later by Krzysztof Holowczyc, a Polish driver, in the Rallies of Portugal, Argentina, San Remo and Spain. Then, between 1999 and 2008, the unit competed for private teams in various categories at European and international level.
Next, in 2009, the Impreza WRC debuted by Colin McRae was fully restored and competed in the San Marino Rally Legend. From then on, the unit has been in the hands of collectors who have barely used it, so its mechanics and appearance are practically intact.
Although we don’t know the selling price of the unit, having belonged to Colin McRae is surely a good reason for its value to multiply, and a WRC model is already terribly expensive on its own. Mechanically, it has a 2-litre four-cylinder boxer engine which, thanks to turbocharging, produces 300 CV.
The Scottish driver Colin McRae died tragically together with his son in a helicopter accident at the age of 39, in September 2007, in Scotland, very close to his home. This driver became World Champion in 1995 with Subaru, as a teammate of the Spanish driver Carlos Sainz. He also achieved runner-up finishes in the 1996, 1997 and 2001 seasons.
