Wrangler 4xe Willys '41 Special Edition 2025, a tribute to the original model

The new Jeep Wrangler pays tribute to the legendary Willys, the military off-roader of the 1940s, with a modern hybrid drivetrain.

One of the most important off-roaders in the history of these vehicles was the Jeep Wrangler Willys. Designed for the Second World War, this vehicle was a very practical, manageable off-roader capable of fulfilling its role without difficulty. It became a benchmark, and now the new Wrangler wants to pay a heartfelt tribute to this legendary model.

This model has a precedent from 2022 in the form of a concept car called Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys’41 Concept, presented at the Easter Safari event the brand holds each year. It is based on the new Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which will launch in 2025 and features a hybrid drivetrain with two electric motors. Its bodywork shows the olive green color worn by the original military version, giving the off-roader a retro touch.

The color is also repeated on the 17-inch wheels, which are fitted with 33-inch tyres. Inside, we find seats with cinnamon-colored Heritage upholstery. The olive color is also present in the interior, and to complete the retro look of the model, a gear lever inspired by the 1941 era has been included.

There are two types of roof. The first is a hard top in the body color, and the other is an electric Sky One-Touch roof. A third type, a cinnamon-colored soft top, will join these two to complement the model range.

The on-board technology would surprise a soldier from 1941, as it features current and highly appealing technology. The 2.0-litre combustion engine delivers 375 CV and is supported by two electric motors. Electric-only range reaches up to 31 kilometres, a somewhat short figure compared with other hybrids on the market, but one that offers a limited solution for emission-free driving.

A 12.3-inch multimedia screen controls the infotainment system, and the instrumentation is displayed on a digital screen. Although it has little to do with that Jeep Wrangler Willys, it comes fairly close to what this iconic model was and brings its original essence into the present.
