291 BMW R 1200 RT will be delivered to the Guardia Civil
BMW and the DGT have worked hand in hand to provide 291 R 1200 RT to the Guardia Civil. This motorcycle will look after safety on roads and motorways.

Several car manufacturers collaborate with different sectors of society. Many vehicles are loaned for public services, and others are granted to the security forces of our country. On this occasion and, as is customary, BMW has provided a batch of R 1200 RT to the Guardia Civil, with the aim of maintaining order on Spanish roads. Specifically, 291 motorcycles have been delivered to the officers, seeking to equip the Guardia Civil with the latest mount and to be the fastest in pursuits.
The BMW R 1200 RT replaces the veteran R 850 TR, which also served the police force for several years. On this occasion, the DGT has wanted to ensure the safety and order of citizens, and that is why they have handed over the 291 motorcycles that will patrol the roads and motorways. Thanks to the excellent power-to-weight ratio of the R 1200, achieving the officers’ objective will be much easier.
The new Guardia Civil vehicle features a two-cylinder boxer engine that produces 125 CV of power and 125 Nm of torque. At the same time, it has a declared weight of 276 kg -without rider-, which helps it achieve very good performance. It also has a six-speed constant-mesh transmission with helical gears. The R 1200 is capable of reaching over 200 km/h, but it is not only a fast motorcycle, it is also comfortable.

The Guardia Civil will spend several hours aboard the R 1200, so the DGT made sure to choose a motorcycle with comfort capabilities up to the task. It is characterised by being designed for long journeys and features the BMW Dynamic ESA electronic suspension, which anticipates a change of terrain one second in advance and prevents it from being abrupt. It also offers heated grips and different riding modes.

It is true that the officers will spend most of their time on alert, but the fact that the R 1200 RT offers the ability to change riding mode will help them adapt to all kinds of situations. Furthermore, the German motorcycle offers the possibility of carrying out drug and alcohol checks, and officers will be able to act as a mobile speed camera. In this way, safety on our roads is guaranteed thanks to the participation of 291 motorised officers, who will have the ideal vehicle to overcome adversity.
