Nissan has just announced that 50,000 units of the Navara have already been sold across Europe. This positions the Nissan Navara as one of the best-selling pick-ups.

The pick-up segment is becoming increasingly established in our market, and vehicles in this segment have carved out a very significant niche. As a result, several brands are now offering a pick-up among their options, such as Mercedes with its new Clase X. Today, however, we’re going to talk about the twin brother of the German pick-up, the Nissan Navara.

The Japanese manufacturer has just announced that 50,000 units of its pick-up have been sold across Europe, a real success for Nissan. Since this latest generation went on sale in 2015, the brand has built considerable prestige for its pick-up. It was in 2016 that the Nissan Navara won the International Pick-up award, and the company has no intention of stopping there.

Nissan had a Navara market share of 8.8% in 2015, and it was in the latter part of 2017 that it managed to reach 15%. This gives the Nissan Navara and the brand great potential to keep growing their sales throughout 2018. The markets where the Navara has been most successful are the United Kingdom, Germany and Switzerland.

This positions the Nissan Navara as a very strong option compared with traditional off-roaders, since it combines off-road capability with a high payload capacity. It is also worth noting that 80% of Nissan Navara sales were for the mid-to-upper trim level of the range. This indicates that the average buyer is using the Japanese pick-up more as a private car than a commercial vehicle.

“For us, receiving the 2016 International Pick-up award was an honour. The jury clearly recognised the exceptional mix of performance and smart technology in the Navara, placing it as the best in its class, and customers across Europe have confirmed this.” said Christophe Longo, Marketing and Product Planning Director for Commercial Vehicles at Nissan Europe.

Nissan also offers several versions covering both commercial and private vehicles, but the brand has focused its efforts on a different variant. This is the Nissan Navara e-NV200, which would become the first fully electric commercial vehicle. This would bring considerable savings for businesses and a significant reduction in emissions that affect the environment. This new version would offer more than 100 kilometres of range and represent major improvements over the previous model.
