The French brand recently renewed one of its most successful compact models of recent years. In this way, the 308 received certain aesthetic and mechanical improvements over the previous version. But Peugeot did not only improve the standard variants of the 308, it also seized the opportunity to upgrade its most radical version, the GTi.

Peugeot entered the hot hatch war with great force, and to keep the 308 GTi in a strong position, it has decided to apply some improvements. The most aggressive 308 goes head-to-head with the Golf GTi, SEAT León Cupra and the recent Hyundai i30 N. Even so, the French brand has its sights set on the future and aims to bring its compact ever closer to the territory of the Honda Civic Type R and Ford Focus RS.

The 308 GTi keeps an aesthetic that is practically the same as the previous version, except that it features a series of improvements to the light units and front grille. These elements help the French compact keep its line intact for a few more years and display a modern, fresh look. Even so, the essence of the Peugeot 308 GTi lies in the sportiness it conveys.

Despite being a compact with sporting aspirations, it has a sober and discreet look that helps it not to draw too much attention. This can change if you choose the two-tone paint option, which makes your 308 GTi more eye-catching. Other elements also reveal that it is not an ordinary 308, tsuch as the twin exhaust outlets, wheels exclusive to this model and the GTi badges.

Under the skin we find the same engine as before, a 1.6 THP petrol unit producing 270 CV of power. The French brand no longer offers the option of the 250 CV version and focuses exclusively on the most powerful in the range. The new 308 GTi continues to offer a Torsen-type rear differential and features front brakes measuring 380 mm and rear brakes measuring 268 mm. The mechanical package allows the 308 GTi to reach 100 km/h in six seconds.

At the same time, the 308 GTi features a series of technological improvements that help it keep up with the current market. We find the possibility of connecting your smartphone via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. But that’s not all: the new 308 GTi also offers a new exclusive colour, combining Magnetic Blue with Pearl Nacre.

The Peugeot 308 GTi arrives with the aim of conquering the market and standing out above other sporty compacts. It achieves this thanks to its incredible performance and, above all, its attractive price, which positions it as an option well worth considering. The 308 GTi starts from 32,050 euros.
