A BMW e9 with a Tesla motor? Hold on to your seat
A BMW e9 with a Tesla motor and 450 CV of power? Wait until you see the video.

Did you think you had seen it all? We assure you that you haven’t, so wait until you meet this BMW e9 with a Tesla motor. You read that right: with a Tesla motor and 450 CV of power. The BMW e9 is possibly one of the most spectacular models from the Bavarian house, and it is even rarer than any BMW M3, BMW 2002 or BMW Z8. You don’t believe it?
Between 1968 and 1975, 30,000 units were manufactured, but time has not treated these coupés very kindly. Some units have been perfectly restored, reaching unique prices, but many others have met their end sooner than expected. The unit we are going to talk about today has a new lease on life, because it is going to be fitted with a completely electric Tesla motor.
This is the BMW e9 with a Tesla motor

It is important to highlight that the guys at Electric Classic Cars have restored this unit entirely, but it is not a version of the BMW 3.0 CSL. The car had been in a barn with the sunroof open, so it was in shreds. This made it the perfect candidate for a restoration.
The batteries and drivetrain belong to a Tesla Model S and are located where the German inline six-cylinder engine once was. Of course, since water and time had worked their magic on the interior, it has also been fully restored. The BMW E9’s brakes have been replaced with a set of larger Wilwoods, and Alpina wheels with soft tyres were fitted over them. Electric Classic Cars has confirmed that the weight has not changed much, although it has indeed increased. But with 450 CV and a 0 to 100 km/h time of three seconds, nobody is complaining. There is even decent space in the boot so you can make the most of its range of 321 kilometres.

The truth is that if a BMW 3.0 CSL had been dismantled to fit a Tesla motor, it would have given us a heart attack, but since this is a model that practically could not be saved, it is incredible to see that someone has brought it back to life, even if only in fully electric form. As electric cars become part of our lives, these kinds of conversions may be the only thing keeping the most classic models alive. What do you think of the completely electric BMW e9 with a Tesla motor?
