A massive motorhome that is a camper… with a garage!

It’s clear that motorhomes are going through one of the most interesting moments, and they have become one of the most popular ways to travel on holiday. But even within this kind of market there is room for eccentricities. What we are going to see is a unique vehicle, built to be a luxury motorhome and, in addition, to have a garage to tow the car behind and move about more freely once it arrives at its destination.

It is a leisure vehicle built from a Freightliner Coronado Haulmark, a large three-axle long-haul truck that measures 13.7 metres. To complete this leisure vehicle, a trailer has been added to carry the car, so the whole combination is some 11 metres longer. What’s more, it is equipped to give its occupants every possible comfort.

Inside the main trailer there is a living room with several sofas, an elegant dining area and wooden furniture. The kitchen is very well equipped, with a microwave oven, a double-door fridge, a sink and hot water supply. Other comforts include a large satellite TV and three air-conditioning units.

The bathroom is very well equipped, with a shower, washbasin and a separate toilet. The bedroom, for its part, has a queen-size bed, several wardrobes and storage spaces, and one more television. For enjoying the outdoors it has been fitted with an awning, an outdoor television and even an external barbecue.

The attached trailer has capacity to carry two cars, in case one is not enough. It is equipped so that work can be carried out on it if any repair is needed. Access is through a side door or the rear ramp and, in addition, it has an observation platform on the roof, reached through a hatch by ladder.

All this is powered by a diesel engine, coupled to an 18-speed gearbox. The truck was bought in 2008 and underwent this conversion to serve its owner as a luxury motorhome. It is now for sale and has been priced at 425,000 dollars (it is, obviously, in the United States), so anyone who wants a vehicle like this for holiday travel has the chance to acquire it. That said, it should be borne in mind that there are not many campsites where it can be parked…
