A one-off Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be part of this year's Gumball 3000

Aston Martin is not the only car manufacturer that has officially entered one of its models in this year’s Gumball 3000. Alfa Romeo did not want to miss the event and has prepared a particularly special Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio. It is a one-off exclusive to the occasion.

Admittedly, one cannot argue that the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is not a supercar and therefore has no place in the Gumball 3000, but the organisers apparently agree.

The only Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio in the Gumball 3000 features a highly personalised paint finish created by the Alfa Romeo Design Centre, paying tribute to the special livery seen on the Fiorano circuit on 14 February during the test session of the C38 single-seater of the Italian brand’s Formula 1 team: Alfa Romeo Racing.

The design of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio in the Gumball 3000 recalls the Valentine’s Day livery of the racing single-seater thanks to the alternating clovers. The Volcano Black bodywork is decorated with a grey clover-leaf motif covering the entire surface.

The underlying pattern is adorned with fluorescent green decorations including a large snake, viscount, on the side panels, the Alfa Romeo lettering on the rear window and the front wings, not to mention the brand logo covering the entire roof.

It also features 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels painted in the same green overall, as well as the Alfa Romeo logo visible on the black brake calipers. Another unique touch comes from the polished headlight clusters. There are no changes to the powertrain, which consists of a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 engine capable of producing a respectable 500 CV.

The one-off Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio will not be the Italian brand’s only contribution to this year’s Gumball 3000. The manufacturer will host a track experience session on 12 June at the Balocco Proving Ground, as part of the route running from Venice to Monaco.

The full road adventure includes more than one hundred supercars, prototypes and unique projects covering 3,000 miles, or 4,828 kilometres, on open public roads. This year’s event began on 7 June on the Greek island of Mykonos and will finish on the Spanish island of Ibiza on 15 June.

The procession will pass through Athens and Thessaloniki, then Croatia and Venice before reaching Vercelli, Italy, on 12 June. There, Alfa Romeo will welcome the unique mix of Gumball cars at the legendary Balocco test track. This test track is the birthplace of the racing models of Alfa Romeo teams that won on the world’s best circuits. The rally will then proceed to Monaco and on to Barcelona before its final leg in the Balearics.
