When we talk about a Porsche we usually think of supercars and luxury cars, but more in terms of leisure than anything truly functional. So the models of this prestigious German brand focus more on leisure than on things that are practical for more industrial tasks. But that doesn’t mean these sports cars are only for showing off and cruising around in style. The proof is in this video, which shows how a Porsche Cayenne is capable of hauling an Airbus A380 weighing 285 tonnes to the runway.

The distance the car covered towing this imposing aircraft with 516 seats and a length of 73 metres was 42 metres, which may seem like little, but considering the weight of this imposing flying machine, it is no small feat. Air France made way for the German SUV, which managed to beat the previous record for towing a heavy aircraft, held by a Nissan Patrol since 2013.

In that case, the Japanese SUV moved an aircraft weighing 170 tonnes, which is no small feat either. In this case, a Porsche Cayenne S Diesel powered by a 4.1-litre twin-turbo V8 engine was used, delivering 380 CV and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. With figures like these, it is no surprise that it could pull the imposing Airbus A380 out of the hangar where it was stored.

The car was driven by Porsche’s specialist technician Richard Payne, as part of an advertising campaign held at Charles de Gaulle airport, in which one of the units of this aircraft model, considered the heaviest in the world, supplied by the French company for the event, was moved. It was not the only Cayenne involved, as the feat was also carried out by a unit of the Cayenne Turbo S equipped with an engine producing 526 CV. What do you think of this car’s feat?
