Abarth 124 Spider Scorpione: the new special edition of the fun roadster
New design package for the Abarth 124 Spider. The Scorpione special edition features several design changes and a sportier exhaust system.

Abarth has unveiled several premieres at the Geneva Motor Show, among them the new Abarth 124 Spider Scorpione. This special version of the popular convertible receives several design modifications, although its mechanics remain unchanged from the original version.
The Abarth 124 Spider Scorpione comes in two body colours – Negro San Marino 1972 and Blanco Turini 1975 – which pay tribute to the rallies that made the Italian marque’s history. At the rear, we find a Record Monza exhaust with Dual Mode system that increases the sound of this model compared with the standard version. The interior receives a more elegant look and stands out for its seats upholstered in leather and microfibre finished in black.

This special edition of this rear-wheel-drive model guarantees great driving fun, despite not receiving any change to its mechanics compared with the standard Abarth 124 Spider. Its 1.4-litre MultiAir turbocharged engine delivers 170 CV of power and 250 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, although the Esseesse sequential automatic gearbox can optionally be fitted. These figures allow this model to reach 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The Abarth 124 Spider Scorpione weighs just 1,060 kg, has a perfectly balanced weight distribution (50:50) and offers a series of components that make it one of the most fun cars to drive at the moment: mechanical limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes, suspension tuned by Bilstein, and stiffer anti-roll bars.

Like the standard model, the Abarth 124 Spider shares the same platform as the Mazda MX-5 and the Fiat 124 Spider, which means a number of elements are shared with these models: suspension arms, steering, wheelbase, door structure and seat structure…
The price of this special edition is not yet known, but Abarth will probably give us some hints during the Geneva Motor Show.
