Alexa, Amazon's assistant, available from this year on the SEAT León and Ateca

SEAT CEO Luca de Meo confirmed at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show that the Spanish brand will be the first to incorporate Amazon’s “Alexa” voice service into its vehicles.

The personal assistant will be installed in the first models of the SEAT León and Ateca at the end of this year, and next year it will be added to the Ibiza, the Arona and a new SUV.

This interactive voice service, developed by the renowned American online company, will save drivers time and promises safer driving. With Alexa you can manage your personal calendar, get real-time news, or find songs through voice commands. The system will also handle specific requests, such as finding a dealership or a petrol station, or placing a purchase order from the car.

The SEAT León and Ateca will be the first to include Amazon Alexa starting this same year. Luca de Meo stated at the Frankfurt Show that this integration aims to advance the brand’s technological development. “Integrating Amazon Alexa into our range is a major step that helps position the brand as a leader in connected vehicles in Europe. The trend toward voice-activated services is growing,” said SEAT’s CEO.

“We believe that voice control is the future. With just a touch of the steering wheel, SEAT customers will be able to ask Alexa for music, receive news, control their smart home and much more,” added Ned Curic, Vice President of Amazon Alexa.

This will be the first time this Amazon interactive personal assistant has been installed in a European car brand, as it originally launched in 2014 as a household task assistant. For now, the system will be available in English and German, so we will have to wait to enjoy Alexa in our language.
