Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition, only 250 units to bid farewell to the current 5 Series
Alpina pulls out all the stops with the exclusive B5 GT Limited Edition, which has its sights set on the very BMW M5 CS

Alpina has earned its reputation as a brand of exclusivity in its own right thanks to its modifications to BMW models, now even more official after BMW itself acquired Alpina almost a year ago. Now the brand announces its second launch since this acquisition: the B5 GT Limited Edition, a limited edition of the 5 Series that even challenges the spectacular M5 Competition.
As we mentioned, the Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition will be a limited edition of which only 250 units will be built for the whole world, with the great advantage that buyers can choose it in either Saloon body style or Touring estate body style, both showcasing a great technological display and luxury, accompanied by an engine that brings out all the sporty bite of this model.

Aesthetically, the Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition is shown in these photographs in the Alpina Blue and Alpina Green finishes, which are offered as standard, while optionally there are six other shades to choose from, all of which can be combined with Alpina graphics. In terms of design, it features an aerodynamic kit very similar to that of the standard Alpina B5, with an extension for the front bumper that includes small aerodynamic fins and a new, discreet rear bumper whose diffuser, painted in the same body colour, houses the four exhaust outlets. The finishing touch is provided by the 20-inch Alpina Classic alloy wheels in a brown finish.

Stepping inside the Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition, we see that the brand offers Nappa leather upholstery as standard in a wide variety of colours, although optionally we can choose Full Merino leather or naturally tanned Lavalina leather, always with the B5 GT legend embroidered on the headrest. Furthermore, to add an extra dose of radicalness, we can choose sport seats in Black Dakota leather with black Alcantara and blue contrasts. To this we add exquisite details such as the Alpina Walnut Anthracite wood inlays, gear selector paddles in the same brown as the wheels, specific floor mats, black roof lining, the Harman-Kardon audio system fitted as standard and a numbered plate on the centre console.

Mechanically, the Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition promises dizzying figures, thanks to its 4,400 cc twin-turbo V8 engine, whose air intake system and engine control unit have been improved, all to reach spectacular 634 CV and a torque figure of 850 Nm, surpassing the M5 Competition and placing it practically on a par with the M5 CS. Power is delivered to all four wheels through the xDrive system via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox with updated software, allowing it to reach 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds for the Saloon and 3.5 seconds for the Touring.

All this power is brought to a halt by the Brembo-signed braking system, with perforated brake discs measuring 395 mm at the front axle and 398 mm at the rear. Alpina has also fitted a complete in-house titanium exhaust line in a black finish, along with improvements made to the steering for greater precision and handling, together with a rear axle positioned lower, which also lowers the centre of gravity and improves the handling of the whole car.

For the time being, prices specifically for the Spanish market are not yet known, but we do know that in Germany the Alpina B5 GT Limited Edition will start at 145,500 euros for the Saloon version and 148,500 euros for the Touring version. The brand has confirmed that the first deliveries will begin next July.
