Apex AP-0: a new sports car concept
Apex brings together the best to create a fully electric car with hypercar pedigree. This new brand has named its model the AP-0 Concept EV.
In the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak across Europe, everything has come to a standstill. In our case, both the launches of new models and the loans of test cars. Everything is at a standstill. The continent is paralysed by an unprecedented situation. But the United Kingdom seems not to have noticed and, for the moment, life there is practically unchanged.

That is why London hosted the presentation of a new brand for the automotive world. It is called Apex and has just unveiled its first model, still a prototype, known as the AP-0 Concept.
Ideal dimensions and weights
The proportions of this AP-0 are ideal for a sports car built to fly. 4.38 metres long, 2.02 wide and 1.22 high. Its wheelbase is 2.65 m, which maximises cornering capability and ensures stability and manoeuvrability. In addition, the centre of gravity is extremely low thanks, in part, to the 90 kW battery pack mounted in the floor of the car. With all this, combined with the extensive use of ultra-lightweight carbon fibre materials, the kerb weight of the new AP-0 Concept is just 1,200 kilos.
Fully electric power
The AP-0 houses a powertrain with state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries weighing just over 550 kg. Its combined output is capable of generating 650 CV and 580 Nm of torque, delivered from the very first moment the accelerator is pressed.

With that power and its light 1,200 kg, mentioned earlier, the new British supercar would reach 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds. Its top speed would exceed 300 km/h by a narrow margin.
Range and charging times
It is not unusual for a brand to disclose the range it promises for its new vehicle. What is less common is for them to reveal charging times. Apex, however, has chosen to be transparent on this point and has stated that, thanks to its battery technology, the new model will be able to travel a maximum of 515 km under the WLTP cycle. According to the British firm, up to 80% of the capacity can be recharged in just 15 minutes using, of course, a fast-charging connection. On a Type 2 connector, it would take 8 hours.
Production and launch
The new Apex AP-0 will enter production in the last quarter of 2022. There is still a long way to go, but customers in the United Kingdom are already accepting deposits from today for the purchase of this new sports car. The approximate cost in pounds, excluding taxes, will be around 150,000. In euros, about 164,500€.
