Audi A3 Sedan at the Barcelona Motor Show

Audi has officially presented at European level the Audi A3 Sedan in Barcelona, a version added to further extend the brand’s reach among saloon customers looking for a not-so-high price. It could be said to be a cost-cutting vehicle that the people at Audi have pulled out of their hat, but it turns out to be a little more than that.

And that added value comes from the spacious boot with a capacity of 425 litres and a convincing interior space, helped by a wheelbase of 2.64 metres. Such figures can be found in other brands, precisely what is sought in this type of vehicle, but the Audi name will surely attract potential buyers in many more markets, such as the Chinese market.

Standard equipment includes a driver’s knee airbag and the panoramic glass roof, keyless entry, auxiliary heating or the adaptive light system with xenon units, plus automatic cruise control, LED interior lighting package and a rear parking assistant, among others, including the optional full LED headlights.

As for engines, the well-known 1.4 and 1.8-litre TSI are used, alongside the 2-litre TDI, with restrained fuel consumption. Next month the more sporty S3 Sedan will be added to the Spanish range.

There are no prices yet for Spain, but it will not be far from the price at which it goes on sale in Germany, around 28,000 euros. In return, Audi offers a certain sportiness wrapped in the body of a compact saloon, the segment that has moved to the front row of buyers’ preferences, but with finishes and an interior that are not so far from any other A3. It is a Audi and that counts.
