After revealing the details and the first official images of the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak that the Frenchman Sebastian Loeb will drive at one of the most anticipated events of the year, the brand expands on the material for this race car with a new video, in which its driver gets behind the wheel of the machine for the first time.

Upon stepping out of the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak, Sebastian Loeb was impressed not only by its straight-line performance but also by the grip it is capable of generating in the corners. Loeb said: “the aerodynamic downforce is similar to a Formula 1 car, the wide tyres are those of an endurance racing prototype, and it uses a differential from a WRC car. In short, it’s a cocktail that gives you wings.”

The prototype will take part in the Unlimited Class. Thanks to the freedom to use whatever technology, power and weight the brand decides on, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak houses in its mid-rear position a supercharged six-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of 3.2 litres. In total, all four wheels, through a six-speed sequential gearbox, receive more than 875 CV of power. The power-to-weight ratio is perfect, 1 kg per CV.

With those figures, it goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.8 seconds and needs only 4.8 seconds in total to reach 200 km/h.

Will Peugeot manage to break the world record in that rally?
