Audi has announced the launch of a special edition for its best-known coupé, the A5. It is a version limited to just 50 units.

In this case, the name for this A5 is DTM Selection, a designation that hints at its sporty character.

The A5 is one of the best-known and most popular models in the range of the brand with the four rings. It is a coupé with a clean, elegant design derived from the platform used by the previous A4, from which it also takes its engines and interior, among other elements.

Now, Audi has decided to give it -in part- a curious halo of exclusivity with the addition of a special edition built as a very limited run of just 50 units. Called DTM Selection, it refers to the brand’s successes in the German touring car championship, where it competes against models such as the Mercedes C Coupé DTM or the BMW M4 DTM.

This special edition offers a more sporty exterior design thanks to 20-inch alloy wheels in graphite grey, as well as black gloss mirror caps. Eye-catching stickers are also added to the lower part of the sides, as well as on the doors and rear windows.

Inside, the most striking change is the front seats, which have been replaced by bucket seats taken from the RS5. Some of the trim pieces are finished in gloss red, as are the stitching on the steering wheel and gear knob. When the door is opened, a lighting system projects the “DTM” logo onto the floor.

Mechanically, this edition will only be available in combination with the most powerful diesel engine in the range, a 3.0 V6 TDI producing 245 hp and 580 Nm. Paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox that sends power through a permanent all-wheel drive system, it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to 250 km/h. In Germany it is already on sale with a starting price of 74,450€.
