Audi is preparing a more than interesting A1 ClubSport Quattro

Do you remember the legendary Volkswagen Golf V W12 with 650 horsepower? Well, now the guys at the Volkswagen Group are immersed in one of their outlandish creations for the celebration of the Wörthersee Tour, an event where fans of Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT and Skoda gather to show off their eye-catching vehicles.
This time, the chosen city is Reifnitz, located in the state of Carinthia, a town where, alongside thousands of fans and owners of vehicles from the Volkswagen Group, the vehicle you see on screen will be shown to the public for the first time: none other than the Audi A1 ClubSport Quattro, a beast of 503 CV and 660 Nm of maximum torque.
As you can see, besides an outrageous raw power output, we are looking at a clear nod to the historic models of the German brand with the four rings, thanks to certain “touches” such as retro-style alloy wheels, the enormous rear spoiler, the air intakes on the bonnet and the front wings.

On the other hand, we cannot fail to mention details such as the huge air intakes and pronounced shapes of the front, side and rear skirts, clearly inspired by the latest RS models, carbon-ceramic brakes or an absolutely enormous rear diffuser, of course made of carbon fibre, a material that has recently become very fashionable.
Going even further into the matter, I would like to point out certain details such as the new track widths, specifically 60 mm per side, specially designed to accommodate the huge 19-inch alloy wheels fitted with 255/30 ZR19 tyres, or the inclusion under the small bonnet of the enormous 2.5 TFSI that vehicles as different as the Audi TT-RS or the Audi RS3 Sportback currently use.
As I mentioned earlier, it is the same engine block, yes, but with an increase of more than 150 CV: specifically, the 2.5 TFSI in this version of the A1 is capable of delivering 503 CV and 660 Nm, a real monster capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds or breaking the 200 km/h barrier in 10.9 seconds. As is logical and very common on all Audi vehicles, the top speed has been electronically limited to 250 km/h.

To keep the whole system under control, as is logical and as its own name suggests, Audi has fitted the same quattro all-wheel drive system found in the Audi TT-RS, adapted to the needs of the small A1. This all-wheel drive is paired with the same six-speed manual gearbox found in the TT-RS. Furthermore, and as is logical, the chassis has had to be reinforced, modifying elements such as the suspension and the braking system.
As for the interior of the vehicle, in pursuit of lower weight, superfluous elements such as the rear seats have been removed, replaced by a reinforcing rear bar. The front seats are the same ones currently fitted to the Audi R8 GT, and all kinds of infotainment systems, navigation, speakers and radio-cassette, as is logical, have disappeared, all to achieve a final weight of 1,390 kg.
Unfortunately, as usually happens with this kind of vehicle, it will remain just that: a design exercise in which the engineers at Audi wanted to demonstrate what they are capable of within the house of the four rings.
