The brand with the four rings could be working on a new premium electric SUV: the Audi Q6 e-tron.

One of the most anticipated future models from the four-ring brand is the fully electric Q6 e-tron. Unrelated to the Audi Q6 with combustion engine that is already available in China, the Q6 e-tron will be a sporty, premium SUV that shares its underpinnings with the upcoming electric Porsche Macan, featuring the latest advances in technology and driving dynamics.

In addition to the numerous photos of camouflaged prototypes we have seen over the past two years, spy photographers have captured the upcoming SUV from Audi with a front end that is barely disguised and leaves little to the imagination. The Q6 e-tron will feature split headlights at the front, similar to the A6 e-tron saloon. The top versions will sport matrix LED graphics for a high-tech look, at least on some models. Similar to the smaller Q4 e-tron, the grille will be covered and painted silver, but the bumper air intakes will remain functional.

From the side profile, the Q6 e-tron will look more dynamic than a mid-size SUV thanks to the sculpted body lines and sporty proportions. The rear will be typical of the German brand, with horizontally mounted LED taillights. Besides the traditional SUV body style, Audi will also launch the Q6 e-tron Sportback coupé-SUV with a sloping roofline and an integrated spoiler.

The new Q6 will feature a minimalist centre console, largely free of switches, and a freestanding tablet-style screen for the infotainment system. Inside, spy photos have revealed a different design from the current Audi range. The dashboard is dominated by a large, vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment display combined with a digital instrument cluster. The four-spoke multifunction steering wheel with flat bottom features the new, simpler Audi emblem, while the centre console has fewer buttons than ever.

Initially, the Audi Q6 e-tron was expected to arrive before the end of 2022. However, its debut could be delayed, although hopefully it will debut before the mechanically related electric Porsche Macan, which has been pushed back to 2024. From 2026, Audi will only offer fully electric models before becoming an all-electric brand exclusively in 2033.
