Audi Q8 confirmed

Audi has confirmed its plans to market, in the future, a luxury crossover/SUV under the name Q8, positioned one step above the Q7 in terms of sportiness and design. The aim of the four-ring brand in launching this vehicle is to win the battle against the BMW X6 and the Range Rover Sport 2014.
Wolfgang Durheimer, Head of Development and Research at Audi, has confirmed the intention to create, on the VAG Group’s MLB platform, a crossover more than five metres long with coupé-like styling. This last point would be reinforced by a pronounced sloping roofline at the rear, as well as a lower ground clearance than the Audi Q7.
It is still too early to talk about the launch date of the Audi Q8, but it could be ready for 2015, after the arrival of the second generation of the Audi Q7 and the new SUVs from Lamborghini and Bentley, with which it will share its platform and design style. In fact, the Lamborghini Urus is a clear example of Audi’s intentions with the Q8.
Audi does not want to miss out on a slice of the cake that is still to be divided in the luxury crossover segment, which is why its SUV range is constantly growing.
