Audi RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition: the most powerful limited edition of this model

It was just before the start of 2020 when Audi applied an update to its RS 5 sports saloon, in both Coupé and Sportback bodywork. It was a mid-life update to the still-current generation which, as is often the case, focused almost exclusively on styling details, accompanied by new technological advances for the infotainment system.

The current generation of the Audi RS 5 is in the final stage of its commercial life while awaiting the arrival of the new one, so what better way to bid farewell than with a limited edition that will only be within reach of a select few budgets. In fact, it coincides with another very special limited edition, the one we announced yesterday from the Audi RS 4 Avant Edition 25 Years, which pays tribute to the B5-generation Audi RS4 Avant.

This limited edition, called the Performance Edition for the Audi RS 5 Sportback, gives it an image that rounds off the aggressiveness and sporty exterior look it already has. Its bodywork can be specified in Nardo Grey, Mythos Black and Daytona Grey, all in a metallic finish, combined with the Optics Package Black Plus, which adds more black-finished details. Finally, it rides on 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres, behind which hides the RS carbon-ceramic braking system, whose calipers can be painted red or blue.

Audi has not provided photos of the interior of the Audi RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition, although the brand assures that the sporty atmosphere is enhanced by elements such as the RS bucket-type sports seats, upholstered in a combination of Dinamica microfibre and leather featuring a honeycomb quilted pattern. In addition, you will have a standard equipment list that is extended with items such as:

• Matrix LED headlights with laser light
• Plus parking system with 360° surround cameras
• Panoramic sunroof
• Adaptive cruise control
• Bang & Olufsen Premium sound system with 3D sound.

Under the bonnet of the Audi RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition sits the already familiar 2,900 cc twin-turbo V6 engine, but boosted by 20 CV, which results in a power output of 470 CV, while torque remains at 600 Nm. These figures allow it to reach 100 km/h 0.2 seconds faster than the standard RS 5 Sportback, which translates to 3.7 seconds, while top speed rises to 300 km/h. It also comes as standard with the RS Pro sports chassis, featuring dynamic steering, an optimised Torsen differential and the RS Plus exhaust with matt black outlets, which guarantees a heavenly sound.

Audi will build only 250 units worldwide of the RS 5 Sportback Performance Edition, with just 10 units arriving in Spain, priced at 154,400 euros. It can already be ordered, and the brand expects deliveries to customers after the summer.
