AudiStream: the virtual visit to the Belgian factory where the Audi e-tron is born

Although physical visits to the Brussels factory of Audi are no longer possible, the brand has prepared a virtual tour that lets you discover how the e-tron is manufactured.

Audistream: Online Production Tour From Audi Brussels

For some time now, anyone who wanted to learn about the manufacturing process of the Audi e-tron could visit the Audi plant in Brussels, where this spectacular German model is built. But for two years this visit has not been possible because of the pandemic. Still, since demand to take this tour remains high, Audi has proposed an alternative that may be very appealing to users.

The Audistream project allows visitors to tour the factory from home, without getting off the sofa, and with plenty of information about the plant the German brand has had in Belgium since 1949. Since then, many vehicles have been produced at the plant. In fact, in November 2021 the eight-millionth vehicle rolled off the assembly line. That honour fell, of course, to a Audi e-tron.

The evolution of the Belgian plant

The virtual visit can be accessed from the website www.auibrussels.be or from AudiStream. The main focus of the tour is the plant’s evolution since its creation, centred above all on the shift from combustion engines to electric motors. Visitors will be able to see the process that began with the last Audi A1 to leave the factory and all the work of adapting the plant to build electric models.

Today, the Audi plant in Brussels produces the Audi e-tron, Audi e-tron Sportback, Audi e-tron S and Audi e-tron S Sportback. Those who access this service will therefore be able to learn quite a lot about these models.

The virtual visit

Once you log in, the first thing the visitor hears is a video with the tour host saying: “Hello, dear viewer! Welcome, herzlich willkommen, hartelijk welkom, and welcome to AudiStream! My name is Birgit Peters and I would like to invite you today to Brussels, where the brand of the four rings has an exciting site. On behalf of all the employees, I will show you the factory where the first series-production fully electric Audi model has been built since 2018“.

From there, a journey through the production of the Audi e-tron begins, starting with the bodywork fabrication and ending with the painting process and quality control, where everything is checked to work perfectly. Bodywork fabrication, including the entire welding process and final assembly, on a production line almost a kilometre long, with more than 1,000 parts assembled, are some of the moments that can be watched on the screen of a mobile device or computer.

The batteries also have a special section, and the video shows how these high-voltage batteries are prepared for use in the vehicle. It is a complete tour that can be very appealing and revealing, with all the available information on the reference electric model of Audi.
